had a 1080 for .. three quarters of a year before i sold it and bought a 2080rtx with the money of the old card going towards that.. but im glad i did .. msi gaming trio x 2080 rtx is a much nicer card than the 1080 i had physically as well as performance wise.. but in younger years 1080 would have probably lasted me years to come

Great video. Loved the humour in it! I always pronounced it AsUS...well because I was building PC's back in the 90's at the dawn of the Pentium...that and I usually pronounce words on how they are spelt. So I guess I'll never get any sponsorship from the mighty company. Thanks for helping an old dog who wants to budget out parts and build himself a gaming PC. I haven't kept up with the tech so I'm watching all sorts of videos and I like your style and humour. I loved your tip about the memory. Got a laugh at the PCI bus. Hey kids...I built PC's when that was the fast bus...and ISA was where you plugged in your nifty 56K dial up modem. ;)

I am looking for some advice on what MOBO I should go with, im looking to spend about 300 - 350 on my MOBO, Less if I can get away with it (I only really play WoW and Overwatch) but I don't want to limit my self if I want to do anything else too. I'm open to advice from you or anyone here in the comment section!

10:00 thank you. Finally someone that builds PC's on youtube that knows the marketing BS and "Fast RAM/Gaming RAM" is BS. Even Linus Tech Tips falls for this meme. Anyone that doesn't believe that "Fast RAM" doesn't do anything, test it this way: Go into your mobo settings, downclock your RAM frequency to 1066MHZ and 700MHZ and test out some games and check their frame rates. RAM frequency has nothing to do with Frame rates. The reason higher frequency RAM got popular at one time was for locked CPU's in the overclocking community, Like the Xeon E5620- you could overclock locked CPU's with the right mobo (Like EVGA mobos) overclock the Front Side Bus on the MOBO and downclock the RAM frequency to get a stable OC. This was the only reason to want higher Frequency RAM. To really test RAM, Create a Ram disk, install a game onto it (preferably one that has long load times) and test how long it takes for the levels to load. Your RAM in kind of like old cartridge games like on the NES or Super Nintendo- Remember how fast they loaded compared to CD games on the original playstation? The only difference is your computer writes large chunks of program into your RAM instead of it being read only like the ROMs of cartridge games. You want as much RAM as possible because some games you can allocate as much RAM as you want for a game to use (like Minecraft). RAM on video cards, same thing- Frequency doesn't matter, unless you are overclocking your GPU. You want more Gigabytes, that is the most important number to look for when buying, because the newer games are allowing you to allocate as much GPU RAM as you want for better looking textures/graphics in the options menus.

Two things I never skimp on: motherboard and PSU. Both are a pain in the ass to remove (depending on the chassis) and efficiency is better when PSUs aren't stretched to their top load. If you don't skimp on those 2 items (assuming you pick the right socket), you needn't upgrade for a long time. I'm on a 1st Gen Ryzen 1600X.... I'll drop in a Gen 3/4/5/6/7/8 whatever comes last for however long AM4 is around. :)

Some good points there. Definitely get an SSD at least for the OS but with the low prices these days, you could get an additional one for you games drive. It makes a huge difference in load times. Also, nice to have OS and Games on separate drives, improves performance. Just make sure to check reviews on the SSD, things like Read/Write speeds are important but so to are the IOPS etc.

And literally I’m not even kidding THE day after I ordered it, the would change what people should get if they bought the pack and they would get a GTX 1050Ti and an AMD Ryzen 3. Disagree about cheapest mobos for ryzen. You can get cheapest mobo and ryzen 1200, 1400, 1600, 2400g or even 2600. Those mobos are very suitable for those chips from AMD. Every single one cheap mobo can deal with 6 core ryzen. Cuz that boi needs only 65 watts which even the cheapest mobo can provide. The thing is yes you can OC ryzen but overclocking is miserable compared to Intel overclocking. You'll get 200 or 300 mhz boost if you're lucky (on those chips which were mentioned above). And the most funny thing is you can overclock the cheapest RAM on the cheapest b450 mobo and you'll get 3200 mhz easily. And you can overclock non X ryzen with the cheapest mobo to those 200 or 300 mhz easily as well. Why would you pay more for what you don't really need?

Budget build should always try to keep some potential in areas that last. Get a decent 650w psu, get a somewhat current MB, and go with AMD. Cheap out on parts fluctuate in price if they are on a high point. Now is a good time for pretty much everything except for cpu/GPU if ryzen 2/navi is a huge success.

I wouldn't waste my time with a rx 560 or a 2200g, I would start with at least a 1500x or even a 1600 because of recent price drop. Budget GPU wise right now I would go for a 1060 6gb or an RX 580 8gb.

+SIXTW0ZER0 , Don't use just one ram stick. If you do, you'll be running the ram in single channel mode which will lower your gaming perdormance. Get either 2 4 gig sticks for dual channel mode or 4 2 gig sticks for quad channel mode. Example, single channel will be 80fps in pubg. Dual or quad channel will be 100fps. it's a whole 15-20 extra frames. As for the saving money part, don't buy everything at once. Wait for deals on newegg or buy used on ebay.

And i dont know if all this will fit in a mid tower because the 1660 is a triple fan gpu

+SIXTW0ZER0 , For the motherboard I'd go with any reputable brand like Asus, Gigabyte, EVGA, or MSI. So first, figure out which socket type you need. Go to google, put in ur i7 and look for specifications. The socket type will be something like LGA 1155 or LGA 1151. So when you find out your socket type, go to google again and put in your LGA 11XX motherboards. Then shop for a motherboard. As for the other parts, I'll list some common budget options that still give decent performance. GPU- RX 580, RX590 or GTX 1060. Power supply- Any reputable brand ranging 500w-700w. Ram- (depends on the motherboards specs) If ddr3, you can find some good deals on ebay. If it's ddr4 look on amazon or something.

What price range should i pick then for the entire built because i dont want to spend over 500€ excluding the cpu and i dont know if i should pick a expensive gpu and then buy the other parts cheaper so it can fit in my budget

    • BagsOfFun96

      BagsOfFun96

      7 ngày trước

You absolutely can. The only thing I would do first is pick out a motherboard that has the correct socket type and do some research to make sure that cpu is compatible with that motherboard. By that I mean, look at the chipset of the board and make sure that chipset has support for the cpu because even if it's the same cpu socket, that doesn't mean it will post. I'd also recommend that you take apart the laptop correctly instead of completely destroying it in case you ever wanna throw a different processor in it.

I built a mid range PC 2 years ago and it’s been great! 6600k @ 4.5Ghz RX 480 8GB 16GB RAM oc’d to 3333 MHz 3 SSDs I can run any game on high (1080P) and be pushing 75 fps easy. Won’t be upgrading my system for hopefully another 3-4 years. My only regrets: buying a 1000w PSU and a motherboard that supports Crossfire (thinking I would do crossfire RX 480s one day) I should have just bought a smaller PSU and a single GPU board and gotten a GTX 1070 with the extra money instead. I’m still really happy with my RX 480 though! My in laws have GTX 1080Tis and I can keep up with them in games just fine.. they spent more on graphics than my entire setup costed me

You should cover audio (DAW) and video production (NLE, VFX, and color grading) systems and peripherals-the technology, the set up, and building. Reach out to manufacturers (Blackmagic, Elgato, Flanders Scientific, Dell for their UP series) and industry bloggers and professional system builders (Puget Systems, Wolfcrow, who has an amazing and criminally small film and tech channel, or a big timer like Rick Beato). There’s either lack of exposure for people who cover this niche interest that nevertheless undergirds one of the biggest multimedia platforms out there (youtube, soundcloud), or hardly any coverage outside of forums filled with opinionated dudes. You can help out small channels that cover something related to yours, without stepping on each other toes, elevate the quality of amateur and low budget producers, and learn more for yourself about cool A/V gear, like Blackmagic Smartscopes or whatever

I went the budget route 2 years ago and I feel content with my decisions Ryzen 5 1600 3.2ghz OC 3,8ghz Gigabyte AB350M Gaming 3 failed under warranty replaced with MSI B450M Mortar Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 8gb 2400mhz CL14 OC 2666Mhz CL14 Thermaltake Smart RGB 80plus 600W PSU GTX 1060 6gb dual fan OC +200mhz core, +500mhz memory Kingston 240gb UV400 SSD Thermaltake Versa N25 tower with 4 case fans (one stock, one blue led from my previous rig and 2 new xellence blue led) = It was under 1000$ at the time and most games run on high to ultra high It's a nicely packed budget rig but soon I'll need to get more RAM, thankfully the LPXs arent expensive anymore so I'll probably get 8 more gigs very soon.

In my opinion budget builds are the best and most exciting as you are relying on your knowledge and creativity to eek out every last bit of performance rather than how much you spend

If I'd build a PC with a Ryzen 5 2600x and RTX 2070, would you recommend the MSI Tomahawk B450? And what about the RAM? I know I will get 16GB but should I get 2400? Or 3000? I was actually planning on using 3200 G Skill Ram until now but now I am questioning that. Please give me advice :/

Go big or go home. Plus you don't have to always worry about upgrading. More worth going big for the long term investment.

+RCRDC X Exactly dude. You couldve have said it any better. With good parts no program is to much for your rig and you also get a great gaming experience!

This. If you're building a PC you're most likely using it for work that requires more power than a laptop or gaming where getting good parts is a must as a long term investment. Why would you buy something that barely runs most new games on medium graphics or less and then having to upgrade like 2 years later. Buy it nice or buy it twice.

Bad advice on ram for ryzen. 2400mhz cas19 will definitely be a decent amount slower than 3200mhz cas15. What you should have said is 3000mhz cas 16 is the best bang for the buck and won’t cost more than a few dollars more than 2400mhz.

Something else worth noting for folks trying to get the most out of their money: Look for last-gen stuff used and look for comparisons to current stuff. For instance, GTX 1080's are going for around $350-400 now, making it aroung $100 cheaper than a new, slightly faster 2070. It doesn't always make sense to grab a used part, but you ought to when it does. Also, storage is like butter. Never buy used butter.

11:35 Going to add from my experience(which is not a lot but still), storage matters. I have an old-ish(2014) 5400rpm WD Green hard drive and it struggles to play demanding games such as GTA 5, Squad, etc, and it usually bottlenecks them, causing stuttering. After I got my SSD and migrated my OS to it, I have noticed that the HDD causes fewer bottlenecks in my system. It also doesn't help that my 8gb of ram usually gets maxed out in the said games. Due to the game having to write to page file, it is important to have a decent storage drive. tl;dr get a decent HDD that can write fast enough, if you don't have more than 8gb or RAM, having a decent storage drive helps a lot, at least in my case.

My PC is technically "Budget", I got a Pentium G4620 and a good motherboard (this was before we discovered that any processors post-Kaby Lake won't work on it) with a 1050Ti, and I have an upgrade path all the way to a 7700K (that will likely be cheap by the time I upgrade). That's my argument for budget builds: Cheap upgradeability down the road

I would say don't ever get a hard drive at this point. You can get a 1 TB M.2 SSD for just over a hundred bucks. There's just no longer any point in buying a hard drive or even a sata SSD at this point. M2 also has the advantage that you can get a smaller case to put everything in since you don't need a rack for hard drives. If you need multiple TB of memory for long term storage, consider just using an external hard drive instead.
