A couple things most don't know. Most automotive cars and trucks have a mesh screen built into the reservoir. These are the hi mileage cars with filthy power steering proper level and sometimes they make whining noises as the pump is starving itself to pump the fluid.

I want to get a tractor for investment property yard clean up and general utility which may include digging foundation footings. What would you recommend for a good all around diesel tractor that may be old, but parts can be easily had for it. I prefer not to invest more than 5 grand to start, because of my limited true need. I can weld and have access to good diesel mechanic.

all cars have power steering filters, (atleast here in the uk) it usually filters the return before it goes into the tank, and is part of the tank. And interestingly as most folk dont know about them, is often the cause of power steering failures at low engine speed :)

    • Turbo Diesel

      Turbo Diesel

      3 ngày trước

@ arthur vassallo : No, misting diesel into the intake will not work. Use ether or a silicone spray (that uses a flammable propellent such as butane or propane) in the intake while cranking the engine. When using either method, don't use a lot, and don't run the engine on the injected propellent more than a few seconds, just to verify the engine will run.

why are you leaving the loader control valves on there ? I would delete them and the problem with them . I am sure if you just connected the hoses as there probly open center valves that would work and the valves can go in the junk pile . and as per your block heater here in Minnesota I put lots of those in at work and have found that the best solution is use THE RIGHT STUFF to seal the o ring and put a dab under the bolt head before you install works for me .and if you have not used THE RIGHT STUFF get yourself a tube for you caulking gun you will not use silicon or rtv much after you get this stuff . and for your steering john deere ford and white used a similer system even for used in on cars for years if you lived closer to fargo I am sure we could repair it at the shop I work at

ChuckE do us a favor; install a 12V diesel pump to eliminate the need to primer the fuel lines before cold start. Will save you time and frustration. Trust me, I have a ZETOR here in Greece and the first thing I've done is to install an electric diesel pump to stop priming everytime. Much faster cranking and start up and less frustration (especially on really cold days). Also check the manual for your power steering. My Zetor has a belt driven pump and not this monstrocity of yours. Much cleaner look and less parts to maintain. Maybe this is an aftermarket customization of the the previous owner. The exhaust of your tractor is too high, lower it by cutting a few inches. If it rusts you gonna see it falling of and you will must make a new one. Trust me I changed 3 original exhausts before I make my own shorter and lighter exhaust. And last one, you don;t have to turn the keys all the way everytime. Just pull it up so they dont engage the electrical system. I left the keys on for a long period of time by just pulling it a little bit o diconnect it from the whole system. Never used the central breaker and never had any failing battery....

I was driving through the country here in NC the other day and I happened upon a Zetor dealer. I wonder if they could help you out with some parts.

They could, because new Zetors are very similar to the old ones, and a lot of parts are the same...

I have no idea why you go and spend hundreds and hundreds on tools because you don't use them. Do you use the "knipex" because you like the name or you don't want your sockets to get dirty?

+John Adams I don't have any problem with chucky, he a good guy and I have watched him giving advice to younger people who can give help to younger people in the future and he has good working ethos. I just think something he does the most "redneck" things and makes me cringe. But he's young and in ten years time he's be doing comments on peoples videos on youtube just like this.. :o)

+John W Your right he is in the shop, not the field but I would be lying if I said I always grab my torque wrench when tightening down a bolt and replace every O-ring and gasket I run into. He isn't getting paid to do this, it's not a client's tractor it's his. So I guess what I'm saying is give him a break on the small stuff like this. Remember your not at work and your not training someone, it's not your ass on the line and it's not your job to make sure it's done best way possible. Now if what he was working on wasn't already a POS it would be different.

+John Adams It wasn't the first time I have seen chucky using the knipex... IN THE WORKSHOP!!!.. I can understand using it in the field or a breakdown and you don't have the proper tools but to use it in the workshop and you have the tools. Get the tool to work..not your hand to work. I bet the filter isn't tight because his hand won't have the power to tighten the bolt using the knipex. I was watch somebody just last month digging a hole in the the road using a shovel.. there was a spade just 10 feet away but he was still using the shovel. I don't know if it was stupidity or lazy.

At last there is someone interested in Zetor . You can't give them away here in Italia. Your throughing good money at a lemon! I would spend spend money on the case or Kubota and even the ford but spend 1,00 $ on something your never going to get back is not smart. That tractor is a black hole. It's a money pit. Park it and use it as an example to never buy someone else's problem again.

You must be new around here. All 15~30 of his tractors are money pits. It's part of the channel.
